Cool Kids on the Blog
The concept of blogging is one that is very foreign and frightens the living daylights out of me. For starters, I was never one to keep diaries, or journals recording my life, experiences, and ideas on a daily basis. Also the idea of others being able to read my thoughts, and have an opinion on my life scares me to death. But on much brighter side, sharing with the world a little bit of my haven is not a bad idea at all. So as I embark on this foreign concept,I do so  with a pinch of salt. Looking at it  as an experience I can always look back on with a smile. You may like or dislike what I have to say or share, but in the end  I plead with you to help me, help you enjoy each moment
I must be honest I never thought I would ever start a blog, if it weren’t for the grade component attached to this project I am positive I would never have started.  But I must admit, as I started typing I realized I could not stop, and actually enjoyed it regardless. So I am going to make this as fun and as participatory as I possibly can. I promise.
So  who am I, and what is this Blog going to be about?
I am a in my 3B semester, taking International Development at the University of Waterloo. Many people ask what International Development is all about, and whenever asked I always go blank. What is International development? Growing up I despised the idea of being able to live my dreams and others not able to. So I somehow believed I could make a change in this unfair world.Once I heard about the works of Unicef, Free the children, Save the children and all the many organizations out there working to achieve my cause I begun to believe that there was hope after all, and I too wanted a part in these organizations.
Discovering this program at the University was not an easy one since we  are somehow overshadowed by the Environment and Business  and Planning Programs respectively . But once you look a bit deeper into the programs offered under the faculty of Environment, you will definitely come across the INDERVOUR’s.
When I actually begun learning all the theories, and reading a zillion and one case studies regarding international development I begun to loose hope once again. I wondered, what part can I play in this HUGE world to help make a difference? Well it all starts with little steps, and this September I will take my first step.
So In my words, International Development, or more like Development is all about making a difference no matter how small the impact is. So long as the lives of a group of people are made better for whatever the cause may be, and a sad face is transformed into a smile. In my books you have ‘developed ’ change and made a difference.
As mentioned above, I will be taking my first steps on my journey to attaining development on my placement this September. I will be doing my placement in Nepal, with the Himalayan Biotrade Private Limited located in the capital  Kathmadu. I do not know much about this foundation yet, but fear not, I will definitely keep you updated on the exact details of my placement. As much as I am excited about this trip, I am equally as nervous and anxious as to what lies ahead.
Through this blog, you and I will live my adventures in the months before my trip as well as every moment of every adventure I will encounter on my placement in Nepal. So buckle up, because this  is  definitely going to be a ride of a life time.
